Katy learned the art (and perils) of public speaking in the classroom; her first job out of college was teaching English at Winchester College in the United Kingdom, where “manners makyth man.” In 2021, she returned to teaching, serving as an adjunct professor in the journalism department at Northern Arizona University, lecturing on writing, reporting and journalistic ethics.

As a journalist, Katy has appeared on a variety of radio and TV programs, providing commentary on the news for outlets such as NPR, CBS, E! and Monocle. She has conducted live interviews with activists, celebrities and CEOs. She has also enjoyed moderating panels and once appeared as a lifeline on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
